well, sit back, relax, grab yourself some milk and a couple of cookies, and let me tell you the story of nepeta's cozy cave!!
★ FIRST THINGS FIRST: WHAT AND WHY?? ★
nepeta's cozy cave is my little personal page where i can freely express myself!! that means i can chuck my thoughts, my interests, my chaos - EVERYTHING onto one little webpage, without the worries of social media!!
i was born in '06, so i was lucky enough to grow up on the last few years of the 2000s/2010s internet!! back in the days when there were actual safe sites kids could go on to play games (thats stuff like the old moshi monsters website, bin weevils, the real tooth fairies, old sites dedicated to cartoons, THOSE OLD GAME SITES WITH ALL THOSE FLASH GAMES!!!! the list is endless lol), nowadays kids are being exposed to the horrors that is shorts, tiktok + reels...
the internet's just turned from a magical place where you can be yourself on, into an awful, awful corporate mess. there's not really any kid-friendly sites for kids anymore, it's just all social media now...
and that fucking SUCKS, man!!!!!!!! UGHHHHH!!!!
and where does all of what i mentioned tie into this site??? well, i'll tell you!!!
i have a HUUUUUGE passion for the early internet, and the late 90s/early 2000s in general. i was NOTHING but an atom in the late 90s, but something about the early internet just makes me feel very warm and fuzzy inside??? things must've felt a LOT nicer back then, not having the internet shoved down your throat everywhere you go like you do now!! i do kinda wish i was there to experience the early net, but oh well.
nepeta's cozy cave is a tribute to the early net in a way??? i also made it as a safespace for myself, as i tend to age regress involuntarily + i just want a place to chill out on without any worries at all!! warm colors, rainbows, pastel, homestuck, pokemon and early net, all in one site!!
i hope you guys do like this webpage, i worked very hard on it and i hope this place brings you as much comfort as it does for me =^__^=

nepeta's cozy cave was first created on march 16th 2023, under the name "wappydog"!!!
the name "wappydog" was taken from the old robo-dog under the same name (did you know wappydog had its own ds game??), however on june 1st 2024, i changed it after i felt it didn't quite represent me as a person... :o[
i had a site before this one (wooflbupy), that just contained all of my info + shit. basically a fancier rentry!! that was... back in 2022.
fast forward to 2023: after constantly switching between places like carrd, rentry + listography, i decided to give neocities another try. after fucking around with a template, wappydog v1.1 was born!!
ah, the good ol' sidebar layout that a LOT of old geocities sites had. i used <marquee> for the headers!!
the site was very clunky + weird-looking, but that was expected for someone who was a beginner coder + only had html/css knowledge from toyhouse + deviantart!!
this specific layout got a few revisions throughout june '23. say hi to wappydog v2 and wappydog v2.1!!
somebody found out that position:absolute; was a thing!!!!
i fucked around with position:absolute; SO MUCH in these two layouts.
the mamegoma layout was what actually made my site takeoff in the first place, if i'm remembering right!!
i remember the amount of support my site got, which made me feel so motivated to continue being the weboctoling/webkitty of wappydog!!
unfortunately, the sidenav layout didn't last for very long after the revamps. as cute as it made my site look, it didn't quite fit all of the things i wanted to add to my site!!!
after fucking around with YET ANOTHER template... this is what spawned out of it: wappydog v3 (and v3.1) and wappydog v4!!
i switched from the old sidenav layout to the banner layout!! my site looked a lot more tidy after this ^__^
v3.1 was basically a pink version of v3, so you aren't missing out on much.
my identity issues REALLY showed in my layouts. i kept on switching themes because nothing really represented me!! shit was frustrating!!! AAAAAAH!!!!!
v4 is one of my fave layouts ive made, the candy plushie layout makes me very very happy!! sadly, it didn't quite represent the site the way i wanted it to, so it ended up being replaced...
...with wappydog v5, my most well-known layout!!
v5 is my most favourite layout in the whole wide world!!!!!!! this was SO FUN TO MAKE.
i took inspiration off cinni.net for the image-type layout - basically i made the layout with css then used procreate to draw around it!! there were bubbles that would float up from the bottom of the page, as if you were in a bubble bath!!
however, the cons of this layout was... it wouldn't display right on certain screens. i used position:absolute; for EVERY SINGLE CLOUD + LACE, which made life HELL whenever i wanted to add something to the front page.
it would also be hell to manage the smaller version of the layout, used in some of the pages from that time. as much as i loved this layout... it had to go.
welcome to nepeta's y2k phase: wappydog v6!!
i made everything BLUE. literally EVERYTHING... well, maybe except for the emojis.
i was FACINATED by the y2k cyber aesthetic - this was my attempt at trying to replicate the aesthetic!! it was also the layout that properly introduced altair, one of my sonas!!
this layout stayed for a while until february 25th 2024, which was when i started to migrate my site to nekoweb.
you see, for a while, i had been trying to create a cinni.net style layout (basically a pixel iframe layout), with everything being inside an iframe. this is where wappydog v7 comes in!!
the last layout for the wappydog era... it was publicly released on the site's 1st anniversary... but this was never actually finished, yknow.
this was another one of my favourite layouts, too!! it stayed for the longest if i'm remembering right!! time flies...
throughout may 2024, v8 was in the works. however, it was scrapped shortly after, thanks to the nepeta rebrand... this is as far as i got, btw. it took inspiration from ichigo directory, this time!!
